As I read deeper in the blogs I see a person who writes with the heart and lets it take over. The author is able to help others feel what they feeling in that specific moment. They are able to relate art and photos to real life events. This person feels deeply about family and life. A person who can look at a picture and feel it sentimentally is a person who has a passion for art and expresses it in their writings. There are many blogs that were created during this semester but seems like each photo really touched them. This is a person who has faced trials and was able to express and share with so many others in this class along with the professor. I see someone who is not afraid to speak their mind and show feelings that are with in them.

As I was able to talk about my self as a third person I was challenged this semester. I was challenged to truly dig within me to be able to relate and express each feeling I felt with photos, art , movies, and music. I was able to show who I am as person and the feelings I feel and how happy, and lovable I am. I was able to think these ways because I wanted my reader to truly see me through the art, and writings. I began writing a simple introduction about myself in the very first blog. I was conservative and was not too sure how to begin the writing about my self. As the class went on and the assignments ranged from different subjects, I learned to really use my creativity to express what I felt. I learned how to write and was able to understand the writings in the book in a different aspect than they intended but that shows how such things can be translated in many ways.

While looking at the list of blogs I see a trends of possible likes of someones life. This person loves to see the art in everyday life. As I looked at “The Work of Happiness” I do not see any actual photo of art. I so see art in the writing. The blog is about a poem. The writer goes in to describe how happiness is with in a person and not something that can be physically touched. Vision Through the window

What a powerful photo that is attached to the writing. The writer explains the photo of clouds placed in the shape of a heart. I find the photo very interesting and filled with many emotions. The piece of writing describes someone who saw that image and was able to actually relate to it in such a special way. The person loved with all of her heart and was filled with many emotions. The picture describes a time seems like a mother that missed her child was able to look out side the window and see confirmation of her love for her child. The person knew there would be challenging times in life but that her child may know everything she did was for them to have a better life in the long run. Having to take pictures of simple views and creating them looking at the work of art that speaks to a person deeply.

Joos De Momper Icaru

Wow! Interesting in the way the writer related this painting to what we are facing today. This poem seems like a deeply felt moment experienced looking at the painting. This shows how the quarantine may be affecting others and teaching them to appreciate life’s beauty. The writer expresses taking life for granted, being able to travel where ever when ever. This is expressing how they feel during these times and how it symbolized people in luxury where they can be out in the water and the others can not. It seems to be hard to find true peace in the trying times and the author looks forward to being able to enjoy the daily life they once took for granted.

Art is beauty

Art is the image you see

Art is colors

Can art speak to you

Art is in your space

Art is always staring at your face

Do you know what are is?

Art is life

Joos de Momper Icaru

Starring in awe of life

The light blue sky seeming to brighten the day

The angels in the air remind me of God’s grace pouring down upon our daily life

Daily life is something we tend to take for granted

Breath of fresh air starring into the depth of water

thinking of how quickly the times passes us by

My explanation

I chose this picture because it spoke to me about how beautiful life is. The photo put me in a place where I can remember taking the simple things in life for granted. I remember the simplicity of being able to explore the world with out many precautions. Today we face the fact that life is now the four walls we wake up to daily. The life we have today is more so staying inside the home and leaving for the necessities that we need. We can no longer fully enjoy the outdoors because we can not go many places. This picture displays people out in the open and angels watching over the world and people. The picture also symbolized to me a few things people who have some sort of luxury are able to go into the waters and enjoy the water on a boat. This photo put me in a million places and gave me a ton of emotions. Today we face life and are all trying to stay positive during these times. Seeing the photo gave me a little sense of peace and hope that one day life will be back to normal. The art work is pleasing to the eye and heart warming. I look forward to the days that we will all feel free to do as we please and enjoy the beautiful nature of life. Till then these are the kinds of paintings I can enjoy looking at with peace and reassurance things will get better.

A day at the movies

Night of the living dead

When I watched this movie, I noticed it was an older movie. The music in the beginning was very suspenseful. The car driving on a long empty road through the cemetery definitely gave me the impression it will be a horror movie. It was two siblings headed to visit their dads grave to place a decoration on it. I was curious to know why would he mention that no one was around. It was obvious that someone was going to appear. A man appears and the brother tells her run and she decided to walk towards the man and he attacked her. Her brother then cam e to rescue her and he ends up getting attacked by the zombie. She then came upon a house and the gentle man was asking her for a key to the truck than realized that was not her house. A zombie came in the house. The man fought the zombie off and instructed her that she would need to help board up the house. The movie was based on zombies.  This movie played a lot of suspenseful music to create the fear or image of being scary. The movie was interesting to watch because I have seen many movies that have had this type of theme. I didn’t realize that many of the movies and shows I have seen could have originated from these times.

The General

This was an interesting pick that I chose. It was such an interesting movie because it stated off in a train and I love trains. It didn’t have much words but a lot of music and people coming off the train in the beginning. It also showed a lot of emotions and just displayed how they were but no one actually spoke to one another. They displayed words when they were communicating and then showed them act out in expressions and body language. The General is based in the times of the American Civil war broke out. He had a fiance that he went to go see and brought home two boys with him she gestured to basically send them out. He than had to go back to work on the train but be a part of the war is what I gathered. The part of the movie that sticks out to me the most is when he couldn’t be affectionate with his fiance and instead reached out his hand to embrace her. I believe that was a very emotionally felt part of the movie and showed that although he had to salute troops he still made an effort to reach for her and embrace her the best way possible that he could.

Vision through the window!

This picture was taken outside of a plane window seat. This photo was taken February 2020 on a plane. The view out side of the window was heaven sent. The clouds were not just regular clouds that you see on a daily basis. These clouds were perfectly placed at the right time to symbolize a heart of love. The sun shined right through the clouds in the shape of a heart and it told a story to the viewer. The sun rays beamed onto the lower clouds to represent watching over the others. The gray in the clouds represented sadness in some ways but the heart gave it hope, love and happiness.

Here is a story that has been named in a third person party. A story I lived out just recently and this view of the picture I took marinates deeply with in my heart since I am Little Miss and I had this experience.

As little miss sat down in her seat, all she could think of is how much she would miss her family having to go away for a full week.  Little Miss left her child with her father and off she went on a trip for work. Little Miss stared out side the window with tears in her eyes wondering how will she make it through the week missing her child and her family. Little Miss was on her way to a place she had never been, a place where she does not know what to expect to do a job she has never done. Little Miss prayed for strength while looking out the window and in that very moment this was her view out the window seat. Little miss realized in that very moment that she knew she had to do such thing for the sake of her self and her child. This image reminded her of the love that she has for her child and its her love that provides her the strength to do all the things she needs to do. As the tears rolled down her face she knew that her child would understand that this was not a choice to leave her child behind but a requirement for her job.

The gray clouds represented sadness but the view of the sun shining through the clouds in the shape of a heart comforted her heart to know that it was all out of love and necessity. Her heart became at ease for a little and as the rays shined through she knew God answered her prayers and thoughts. A moment where there was confirmation this whole trip would be okay and happen quickly. The moment where she knew she would have to believe things will turn out just as they should. Little miss closed her eyes and kept the picture as a reminder of her bond and love that she shared with her child.

The Work of Happiness

by May Sarton

https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/58678/the-work-of-happiness

As I read the poem The Work of Happiness by May Sarton I understood that happiness is something that is not outwardly seen or touched. In the beginning May speaks about how the thought of happiness is put together without having any words spoken to you. The poem describes how happiness is not given to you but it grows with in you as a person. May also says how no one has heard how it happens but used the metaphor that about the tree being lifted by its work inwardly. This means that in order to be happy you have to look with in yourself to be happy with who you are. Happiness is defined by your own self. This poem uses a house to metaphorically speak, it explains how with faith a happiness can be accomplished. Happiness is something that grows when there is peace with in yourself. There is no time to put to your happiness. The poem explains the shinning of the leaves that represent happiness. I also speak about where people live inwardly which to me means their feelings with in themselves.

When I first read the poem I instantly just read it for the words that were written. I read that it was speaking about a house and its nice wood flooring, and pretty curtains. I was not till I read it several time that I let it speak to me in that way I understood it. I was able to interpret the words to metaphorically speak and mean something different. The central image is happiness and using the home basically means yourself.

Music

There are many different genres I could have picked from but it seems that I was able to pick music that I could relate to and are pleasing to my ears. I chose two that I have heard in movies that I have watched growing up. The two songs I heard in movies are Somewhere over the rainbow from Judy Garlan and the other song is My girl from Temptations. These two songs were written in two different errors but are considered POP. These song are written musicals and describe how they feel and what they are experiencing. Somewhere over the rainbow was in the movie of Wizard of Oz. Judy Garlan wrote the song in 1939. The second song that was in a movie is My girl that played in the movie called My girl. My girl was written in 1963 by the Temptations. Pop music at these times of the error consist of instruments in symphony. The song Somewhere Over the rainbow is more of music with symphony.

As I begin to explain the other songs I chose it seems that I have stuck to music that has rythym that people can dance or bop to. I like to Tuti Frutti is the only Rock and Roll song that I liked from them time of 1950’s. I was able to look the songs up and find out what genre they were and the majority of the songs are POP music. Pop music has a melody that many of us are able to dance to and enjoy the rythm that comes along with the melodies.

The music I chose has a lot to do with happiness and looking at the brighter side of things. My girl is a song about his wife in some ways he speaks about having sunshine on a cloudy day which is a metaphor. The song some where over the rainbow is a dreamy song looking for hope. The song Wannabe Written by Spice girls is a pop song that speaks about her friends and how whoever is involved with them has to be friends with theirs since they are important to them.

Many times music is produced by what they are feeling or thinking. Music is art that consists of noise, rhythm, and instruments. Pop culture is a huge hit that began in the nineteenth century. Pop culture is a culture that I am very well aware of since I was born in the 1980’s I grew up with the songs I chose because I was able to relate to them. This kind of music is pleasing to my ears because I enjoy music that I am able to dance to and feel uplifted by what I hear. I enjoy these music that consist of real life experiences and such as metaphorically speaking.

My Domestic Architecture

I would like to say that I had no idea that inside a home there is domestic architecture. I learned that there is architecture in many places. As I focus on the interior space in this picture I see the division between the outside of the house and inside. There is a door that allows you to go outside of the house. There is also a lovely window that allows sunlight to come through when the blinds are open. This window is a full glass window that is designed in thick squares. The window does not fully allow you to see clearly outside nor can others clearly look inside. The design of the glass only allows sunlight. The window does not have an opening.

The function of this area is a place where visitors can sit and feel comfortable in watching television or just to enjoy the dim sunlight that is coming in through the window. This area is used for spending time with loved ones or even alone time to just read a book on the couch and lounge around. This is my favorite place in my home because of the dim lighting throughout the day, and this is where my little one and I spend most of our time together. The area is comfortable to us because we are able to enjoy lounging in the living room and be able to relax and enjoy the calm lighting. At times we enjoy opening the door and feeling the cool breeze come through the front area of our home.

This is the place in our home that we feel extremely comfortable and open to do as we please, watch shows, play card games on the little table, color, or even paint at times.

Work area

The second place I spend a lot of my time regularly is in my office of work. It is shaped in an L shaped cubicle with two long shelves, and a couple of cabinets. The area is full of gray and has a large counter space to work in. The area is a nice size area to do work in but the lighting in the area does not have any direct sunlight. Having direct sunlight would give me a sense of fresh air. Since I do not have direct sunlight in my work area it does many times of the day feel gloomy. I enjoy my living room much more due to the fact of the sunlight that shines in the window, and being able to open the front door and receive fresh air. The spaces are much different from one another but these are the two places I spend most of my time.

Untitled by Jackson Pollock

The untitled painting has many expressions with two bold colors. I chose the dripped ink by Jackson Pollock. In the description it tells us that his volatile art and personality made him dominant. When I look at this painting, I see the two colors he used are red and black. Red and black symbolizes to me anger and sadness. The reason I say anger could be the red and sadness could be the black. As I look at this painting, I see the lines and splatters all over on an off-white canvas. There are circles that describe no ending and red blots that give the impression of periods of anger. The creativity of the black parts gives you the impression of instability. The bottom left squiggles of red little loops are an expression of solitary anger. I find this painting rather dark yet with many emotions. This painting by Jackson Pollak has an affect that causes me to feel confusion and sadness. Although there is no specific picture the lines help you give you your own feelings. I like how the painting has the black globs of ink on it because it expresses to me the feeling of “ehh.” These imperfectly shaped lines, circles, and dots do not seem to be settling feelings. I see them as scattered and all over the place. There is not specifically weak nor happy feeling about this painting. I picked this painting because it spoke to me and allowed me to feel such feeling within the ink. The colors were intriguing because of how simple they are yet bold. As I read about his painting, I was right on with the expressions that I was able to gather by just the glimpse of the art. Jackson Pollock expresses his personality well through the dripped ink.

Part of my life

I chose this image because it represents a part of my life that I am so passionate about. This image has the colors that spoke volumes to me, the blues and greens represent to me as if the world is on the woman’s shoulders. The little girl seems to represent a daughter to me. I decided to use this image because I am a mother to a little girl. The colors that represent the world on her shoulder expresses the feelings of a mother who is raising a daughter alone in many aspects. As a mother that I am I believe that mothers carry a lot of the weight of the world trying to protect, nurture and teach children how to go on and face the world. I could not have picked a better picture to explain a part of my life that I take much pride and passion about.

The details about my life that I can explain are that yes I am a single mother to a little girl. Although her father is in her life as much as he can be a mother still takes on most of the work of parenting. As we experienced the separation a year and month ago the photo represents how I felt in that moment. The world was on my shoulders because I had to make sure that her and I had everything we needed to get through the process as well as providing for her alone. As a single mother I felt like she was my strength to get up and face the challenges of the world on my shoulders but carry her and show her the brighter things despite what I was feeling deep within me. As the picture reflects the woman looking at the little girl, while the little girl looks the forward direction expresses the mother seeing her and knowing she has to go on with life and show the child that things are going to be okay. This image once I found it I cried because it brought me to a place that I still remember so clearly and the feelings were still vividly engraved. I had to share this piece of me with you all. Although life does not always go as planned having a child to walk through life with became my very own strength to push through. I work full time, I am enrolled in school full time, a mother ninety nine percent of the time, it becomes easy to feel like the world is on your shoulders. Having a little girl by my side to look at each day helps me and gives me the strength to push through life and work harder for my goals in life. I want to give her an example to live by , although life does not always go as planned she can still accomplish her goals in life.

A little incite

I currently work for the school district of Lee County. I am a secretary to director. I have a child that is seven years old who is the main reason why I am back in school. I am in my third year of attending FSW. I began my journey back to school to become a social worker. This is the career I want to pursue because I do want to give back to the community and help others. I am enrolled in Humanities because it is a requirement to obtain my degree. I will be honest that I did not really know what this class may entail to. I did like reading the first chapter and also going through the presentation. I was able to understand more of what I will be learning in this class. I look forward to taking this class and what I learn to apply to my future.
